The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the alienation of more than 424 acres of government land in Kadapa district to enable the development of an integrated steel plant by JSW Steel, marking a significant industrial land allocation in the region.


The land parcel, measuring approximately 424.45 acres, has been allocated across multiple villages including Vemaguntapalli, Sunnapurallapalli, Peddadandluru, Kotha-kuntapalli, and Thugutlapalli in Jammalamadugu mandal. The allocation has been made in favour of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), which will facilitate the establishment of the steel plant.

According to the government order issued by the Revenue Department, the land has been transferred at a total cost of INR 21.3 crore following due consideration and approval by the relevant authorities. The proposal had earlier been placed before the Andhra Pradesh Land Management Authority (APLMA), which reviewed and recommended the allocation during a meeting held in the past month.

The government has stipulated that the land must be utilised strictly for the intended industrial purpose within a period of three years. In case of non-utilisation or violation of the specified conditions, the allocation is subject to cancellation, ensuring accountability in land use and project execution.

The planned integrated steel plant is expected to contribute to industrial development in Kadapa district, which has been identified as a potential hub for manufacturing and heavy industries. The allocation of a large contiguous land parcel is seen as a critical step in enabling such capital-intensive projects, which typically require significant land and infrastructure support.

Industrial developments of this scale often have a multiplier effect on the local economy, driving demand for supporting infrastructure, logistics facilities, and workforce housing.
