Hettich India has inaugurated a new automated manufacturing facility in Indore, strengthening its production capabilities in the country and supporting its long-term plan to position India as a global manufacturing hub. The new facility spans about 25,700 square metres and forms part of Hettich's larger 103,039 square metre manufacturing campus in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The plant will produce technologically advanced undermount drawer runners, which are concealed sliding systems installed beneath drawers to ensure smooth and silent movement while maintaining a clean, handle-free design.
These runners are widely used in premium furniture and modular kitchen systems due to their durability, load-bearing strength and soft-close functionality. Production from the new plant will support rising demand in India as well as international markets.
This unit is the company's first dedicated undermount drawer runner manufacturing facility in India. It is part of Hettich's total investment of around INR 2,000 crore in the country aimed at expanding its manufacturing base and strengthening its supply chain.
Hettich already operates a hinge manufacturing plant at the same Indore location with an annual production capacity of around 60 million hinges. With the addition of the new Quadro plant, the facility will also manufacture approximately 5 million units of undermount drawer runners every year, significantly enhancing the company's overall manufacturing capabilities.
The Indore campus currently produces a wide range of furniture fittings including hinges, sliding profiles, aluminium profiles, SL 16+ systems and Cube Plus systems. Because of this diversified production, the site has become one of Hettich's most important manufacturing centres globally.
The newly commissioned plant has been designed as a highly automated facility equipped with German-engineered machinery and advanced roll-forming technology. These systems are intended to maintain consistent product quality in line with the company's global manufacturing standards.
Sustainability features have also been integrated into the facility. These include rainwater harvesting systems, solar power installations and a zero liquid discharge system aimed at reducing environmental impact during operations.
Alongside manufacturing expansion, Hettich has been working with Industrial Training Institutes and other technical institutions to develop skill training programmes. These initiatives are designed to equip the workforce with modern manufacturing and automation skills.
The existing hinge manufacturing unit at the Indore campus currently employs around 700 people. With the commissioning of the new plant, the company expects to generate around 300 additional jobs, contributing to employment growth and local economic development.
Andre Eckholt, Managing Director for Hettich India as well as the SAARC, Middle East and Africa regions, stated that the new facility represents an important milestone as the company completes 25 years in the Indian market. He indicated that the investment of more than INR 2,000 crore and the focus on BIS-certified manufacturing reflect the company's Built to Lead strategy and its continued expansion of the Made in India product portfolio.
He further explained that rising domestic and global demand for undermount drawer runners supported the company's strategic decision to expand manufacturing. According to him, strengthening local production also helps the company build a resilient supply chain while improving cost competitiveness and response time for customers and partners.
Eckholt also indicated that India remains central to Hettich's long-term global strategy. With continued investments and technological capabilities, the company is working to strengthen the vision of producing in India for global markets.
India has become Hettich's second-largest market worldwide and is increasingly serving as a production base for exports to markets across SAARC, the Middle East, Europe and China.
