OpenAI and JioHotstar have partnered to integrate streaming recommendations into ChatGPT, enabling users to receive direct links to shows, movies and live sports available on the platform. Entertainment-related queries on ChatGPT will now feature contextual suggestions from JioHotstar's catalogue. The collaboration also introduces a ChatGPT-powered voice discovery feature within the JioHotstar app, allowing users to search by mood, intent or context using natural voice prompts. The companies said the integration aims to simplify content discovery and personalise viewing experiences. The move highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in reshaping India's digital streaming and media landscape.
OpenAI and JioHotstar have announced a partnership that will integrate streaming recommendations into ChatGPT, allowing users to receive direct links to content available on the platform.
Under the agreement, users searching for entertainment-related queries on ChatGPT will be shown contextual recommendations along with relevant streaming links from JioHotstar's catalogue. The companies described the integration as a two-way collaboration designed to simplify content discovery.
In addition, JioHotstar will introduce a ChatGPT-powered voice discovery feature within its app. The feature will enable viewers to search for shows, movies or live sports by speaking their intent, mood or context instead of typing keywords or browsing menus.
The joint statement said the initiative is aimed at making content discovery more intuitive. Users will be able to explore programming across languages and genres using natural voice prompts.
Fidji Simo, CEO, Applications at OpenAI, said the partnership brings personalised AI capabilities into entertainment and live sports. She noted that users will be able to move from viewing content to asking questions and receiving recommendations in a seamless manner.
JioStar Vice Chairman Uday Shankar said the company is placing artificial intelligence at the centre of the user experience. He added that the collaboration will allow viewers to discover and curate content using voice commands, marking a shift in how audiences interact with streaming platforms.
The integration is positioned as a first-of-its-kind innovation in India's streaming market. By combining AI-based conversational search with a large content library, the companies aim to create a more personalised viewing journey.
The move reflects a broader trend of AI integration across digital platforms, particularly in media and entertainment, where personalised recommendations and voice-led navigation are gaining prominence.
