Synopsis

Hyderabad-based Sigma Advanced Systems has acquired Delhi-based AS Strategic for INR 30 crore to strengthen its global aerospace and defence platform, particularly across Europe. The acquisition adds an order book of over INR 315 crore linked to active European defence programmes and brings long-standing joint ventures and service partnerships with global original equipment manufacturers. The transaction enhances Sigma's presence in defence services, engineering and programme participation, supporting its transition from a component supplier to a deeper systems-level partner with long-term international defence customers.

Sigma Advanced Systems, an aerospace and defence manufacturing company headquartered in Hyderabad, has completed the acquisition of AS Strategic, a Delhi-based defence and space services firm, at an enterprise value of INR 30 crore. The transaction forms part of Sigma's broader plan to strengthen its international aerospace and defence platform, with a specific focus on expanding engagement in European defence programmes.

AS Strategic brings with it an active order book exceeding INR 315 crore for calendar year 2026. These orders are largely tied to ongoing European defence programmes, providing Sigma with near-term revenue visibility and long-duration programme exposure. The acquisition also allows Sigma to access relationships that would otherwise require extended timelines to develop organically within regulated defence markets.

The acquired company has built established joint ventures and exclusive service partnerships with several European and global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Through these arrangements, Sigma gains direct access to defence engineering services, programme execution roles and aftermarket support opportunities across multiple geographies. This strengthens Sigma's ability to participate beyond manufacturing, extending into services and programme-level collaboration.

As part of the transaction, Sigma now holds access to joint ventures and partnerships involving European defence players such as AbraWorks, Escribano and Arquimea. AS Strategic also maintains exclusive engineering service agreements with companies within the CSG Group, including Excalibur International, MSM Group, BTG Defence and Fbrica de Municiones de Granada (FMG). Additional partnerships include Yugoimport SDPR, Milkor (Pty) Ltd, Truvelo Armory Manufacturers and SAES Electronica Submarina, expanding Sigma's reach across land, naval and advanced defence systems.

Prior to this acquisition, Sigma Advanced Systems had already established operations in India and the United Kingdom and was progressing its entry into the United States market. The company is among the largest India-headquartered manufacturers of aero-engine and aerostructure components, supplying global aerospace and defence OEMs under long-term contracts. Over time, it has steadily moved toward higher-value manufacturing and complex programme participation.

The integration of AS Strategic is expected to embed Sigma more deeply into global defence ecosystems where programme continuity, long qualification cycles and long-term partnerships are critical. This aligns with Sigma's stated objective of moving up the value chain from component manufacturing toward integrated systems, services and lifecycle support across global defence programmes.

The acquisition also follows Sigma's earlier international expansion efforts, including the purchase of the UK-based Nasmyth Group, which strengthened its European manufacturing and engineering footprint. Together, these moves position Sigma to play a larger role in global defence supply chains as international OEMs diversify sourcing and expand partnerships with Indian manufacturers.
