Synopsis

AM Group, promoted by the founders of Greenko Group, has partnered with the Uttar Pradesh government to establish a 1-gigawatt AI and high-performance computing hub in Greater Noida, with a total investment of USD 25 billion. The project will be developed in phases, starting operations in 2028 and reaching full capacity by 2030. Designed to serve global AI workloads, the facility will house around 500,000 advanced chipsets and run entirely on carbon-free energy, supporting India's AI initiatives while creating jobs and attracting investment.

AM Group, a platform promoted by the founders of Greenko Group and operating in renewable energy, low-carbon fuels, materials, and AI, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Invest UP, the investment promotion agency of Uttar Pradesh, to develop a 1-gigawatt AI and high-performance computing (HPC) hub in Greater Noida. The agreement was exchanged during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The hub will be built in phases, with the first capacity expected by 2028 and the full 1 GW operational by 2030. It is planned to house approximately 500,000 high-performance chipsets, making it one of the largest AI infrastructure investments in India so far. The facility is designed to serve hyperscalers, enterprises, frontier AI labs, and India's sovereign AI initiatives.

The Greater Noida location was selected to leverage Uttar Pradesh's supportive data centre policies and industrial corridors, providing low-latency, reliable connectivity to domestic and international digital markets. A key focus is sustainability, with the hub running entirely on 24/7 carbon-free energy sourced from wind, solar, and pumped storage.

Officials expect the project to attract foreign direct investment, generate thousands of skilled jobs, and foster a local ecosystem in hardware manufacturing, software development, and advanced cooling technologies. AM Group leadership emphasized that this project is not just a data centre but a sustainable model for future AI infrastructure, aligning with Uttar Pradesh's goal to become a leading AI hub.

The company also highlighted that integrating large-scale compute capacity with renewable energy solutions reflects a commitment to building a carbon-neutral intelligent economy, setting a template for global AI infrastructure development while strengthening India's digital ecosystem.
