Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum certification for six more of its existing office buildings in North Delhi under the LEED v4.1 Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance rating system. With this recognition, the company now has 10 office buildings holding the highest level of LEED certification. The newly certified facilities include the Learning and Development Centre, the Rani Bagh Protection Office and four district offices. The certification follows a detailed assessment of energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable operations and indoor environmental quality. Tata Power Delhi Distribution stated that the milestone reflects its continued focus on reducing environmental impact and strengthening sustainability practices across its operational infrastructure.
Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, which supplies electricity to around 9 million people in North Delhi, has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum certification for six additional existing office buildings under the LEED v4.1 Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance rating system.
The newly certified facilities include the Learning and Development Centre, also known as CENPEID, the Rani Bagh Protection Office and four key district offices. These buildings were assessed under the LEED Green Building Rating System developed by the US Green Building Council and verified by Green Business Certification Inc.
LEED Platinum represents the highest level of certification awarded by the US Green Building Council and recognises excellence in areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable operational practices, indoor environmental quality and innovation in building management.
With the addition of these six offices, Tata Power Delhi Distribution now has 10 existing buildings that have received LEED Platinum certification. The company had earlier achieved the same recognition for four of its major offices, including its corporate office, earlier in the decade.
The certification followed a comprehensive evaluation of the company's green building and operational practices. These include the use of energy-efficient LED lighting and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, measures to optimise natural resource utilisation, water conservation initiatives and efforts to enhance indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort. The operations and maintenance of the certified offices were assessed against global sustainability benchmarks covering energy savings, water efficiency and carbon footprint management.
Dwijadas Basak, chief executive officer of Tata Power Delhi Distribution, said the achievement reflects the company's commitment to sustainable operations and reducing its environmental impact. He stated that securing LEED Platinum certification for 10 offices aligns with Tata Power's long-term sustainability objectives and highlights the collective efforts of teams across the organisation.
The company said the milestone further reinforces its focus on embedding sustainability into its infrastructure and daily operations while continuing to support broader environmental goals.
