Ludhiana Municipal Corporation recently sealed six commercial buildings in different parts of the city due to unpaid dues and unauthorized construction. The action, directed by MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, affected buildings on Barewal Road, 200 Feet Road, Magnet Resort Road, and Ferozepur Road. Officials emphasized that construction should begin only after obtaining sanctioned building plans. Meanwhile, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Sidhu stopped the civic team from removing certain roadside vendors, though officials stated the encroachment clearance would be resumed later. The measures underline the city's ongoing focus on enforcing building norms and controlling illegal construction.
The Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana has intensified its enforcement against unauthorized construction by sealing six commercial buildings across the city. Acting under the guidance of MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, the building branch targeted two buildings on Barewal Road, two on 200 Feet Road, and one each on Magnet Resort Road and Ferozepur Road. The structures were sealed after the owners failed to clear pending dues, including Change of Land Use (CLU) charges. Officials highlighted that construction without approved plans is illegal and warned property owners of strict penalties for violations.
Assistant Town Planner Harvinder Singh Honey noted that the action was part of a continued effort to ensure adherence to building regulations. He urged residents and developers to obtain proper approvals from the corporation before starting any construction work, emphasizing that compliance is essential to avoid legal complications and fines. This enforcement drive follows several previous actions in Ludhiana where illegal or under-construction buildings were sealed or demolished to prevent unregulated development.
In a related incident, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Sidhu intervened to stop the municipal tehbazaari team from removing roadside vendor carts near the Children's Traffic Park on Model Town Road. Sidhu argued that the civic body should either refrain from issuing receipts to vendors or avoid clearing their carts. Following his intervention, the municipal team paused the removal. Civic officials clarified that the receipts had been issued to moving vendors, not stationary ones, and said the clearance operation would resume on another day to address encroachments.
These actions are part of the Municipal Corporation's broader strategy to ensure orderly urban development. Officials continue to monitor construction activities closely, recover pending dues, and discourage unapproved works, reinforcing the importance of regulatory compliance among property owners. The city administration has repeatedly reminded developers that construction without sanctioned plans will invite strict legal action, and residents are encouraged to cooperate to maintain civic order.
