ITC Hotels has expanded its hospitality footprint in Uttarakhand with the opening of Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Madhuban Dehradun. The newly launched property has 73 rooms and is operated under a management contract, in line with the company's asset-right growth strategy. The development reinforces ITC Hotels focus on growth through managed assets rather than owned properties. Dehradun's position as a gateway to Uttarakhand, along with its growing appeal among business and leisure travellers, has been cited as a key factor behind the expansion. The opening adds to ITC Hotels portfolio in the state and reflects its ongoing strategy of strengthening presence in strategically important locations.
ITC Hotels has announced the opening of the 73-key Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Madhuban Dehradun earlier this week, marking a further expansion of its presence in Uttarakhand. The launch forms part of the company's broader strategy to strengthen its footprint in key destinations across India.
According to the company, the Dehradun property is being operated under a management contract. This aligns with ITC Hotels asset-right growth approach, under which the group focuses on expanding its portfolio through managed and franchised hotels rather than investing in asset ownership. The strategy is aimed at enabling faster expansion while maintaining operational control and brand standards.
Welcomhotel Madhuban Dehradun adds to ITC Hotels growing network in the region and is positioned to cater to both business and leisure travellers. Dehradun continues to gain prominence as an urban centre due to its administrative importance and its role as a gateway to several destinations in Uttarakhand. The city has also seen rising demand from corporate travellers, government-related visits, and tourists heading towards hill destinations, contributing to the need for organised hospitality infrastructure.
Anil Chadha, Managing Director of ITC Hotels Ltd, said that the company was pleased to announce the opening of the Welcomhotel in Dehradun. He stated that the city holds a distinctive position as an entry point to Uttarakhand while also emerging as a destination in its own right for business and leisure travel. He added that these factors made the Dehradun hotel a meaningful addition to the company's hospitality portfolio.
The opening of Welcomhotel Madhuban Dehradun reflects ITC Hotels continued focus on identifying strategic locations that support long-term growth. The company has been steadily expanding its managed portfolio across various categories and brands, with an emphasis on strengthening its presence in both established and emerging markets.
