GMR Aero Cargo & Logistics has launched India's first airside reefer truck at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, enhancing the handling of temperature-sensitive cargo. The truck, capable of maintaining temperatures between +2C and +25C, ensures cold-chain integrity during transfers between the cargo terminal and aircraft. It is suited for pharmaceuticals, fresh produce, meat, dairy, seafood, and flowers. According to the airport CEO, this initiative strengthens Hyderabad's position as a global cargo hub, improves operational standards, and increases customer trust in handling critical perishable and pharmaceutical shipments.
GMR Aero Cargo & Logistics recently launched what it called India's first airside reefer truck at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, marking a key development in handling temperature-controlled cargo. The truck is designed to maintain the cold-chain during the movement of sensitive shipments between the cargo terminal and aircraft, addressing a common challenge in transporting perishables, pharmaceuticals, and biological products.
The airside reefer truck can sustain temperatures from +2C to +25C, making it suitable for a wide range of goods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, seafood, dairy products, meat, and pharmaceuticals. This ensures that temperature-sensitive cargo remains stable and safe throughout airside transfers, eliminating exposure that could compromise quality.
Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, highlighted that the new truck demonstrates the company's focus on operational excellence and positions Hyderabad among leading international cargo hubs. He stated that uninterrupted cold-chain integrity from terminal to aircraft sets new standards for perishable and pharmaceutical logistics, strengthening India's role as a hub for pharmaceutical production and exports. Panicker also emphasized that the capability would boost customer confidence in the airport's handling of critical shipments.
