Brazilian renewable energy developer Casa dos Ventos has signed a power supply agreement valued at over USD 500 million with data centre operator Ascenty, strengthening the link between clean energy and digital infrastructure in the country. Under the deal, Ascenty will partner in two new renewable projects one wind and one solar developed by Casa dos Ventos. Once operational in 2027, the projects will supply 110 average megawatts of clean energy to Ascenty's facilities. The agreement highlights growing demand from data centres for long-term renewable power contracts in Brazil, supported by the country's abundant wind and solar resources.
Casa dos Ventos, one of Brazil's leading renewable energy generators, has entered into a power supply agreement worth more than $500 million with data centre operator Ascenty, the companies said on Tuesday. The deal underscores the accelerating demand for renewable energy from data centres as Brazil positions itself as a key market for digital infrastructure powered by clean energy.
Under the agreement, Ascenty controlled by Brookfield and US-based Digital Realty will become a partner in two new renewable energy projects currently under development by Casa dos Ventos. These include the Dom Inocencio wind farm in the northeastern state of Piau and the Para so solar project in Mato Grosso do Sul, in Brazil's central-west region.
Once operational in 2027, the projects will supply Ascenty with 110 average megawatts of renewable power, supporting the energy needs of its expanding portfolio of data centres across Brazil. Together, the two projects are expected to require investments of around 7.5 billion reais (USD 1.4 billion) and will have a combined installed capacity exceeding 1.5 gigawatts.
The agreement comes at a time when data centres are emerging as a major driver of new energy contracts in Brazil. Investors are increasingly attracted to the country's abundant renewable resources, particularly wind and solar, which offer a reliable and cost-effective pathway to meet the sector's rising electricity demand while supporting decarbonisation goals.
Ascenty currently operates 20 data centres in Brazil and has eight additional facilities under construction. According to Chief Executive Officer Christopher Torto, the company is using the deal to replace expiring power contracts and is also exploring further agreements with Casa dos Ventos as part of its long-term energy strategy.
Casa dos Ventos is backed by French energy major TotalEnergies, which has supported the company's expansion into large-scale renewable projects. The partnership with Ascenty reinforces Casa dos Ventos position as a key supplier of clean energy to Brazil's fast-growing digital economy, while enabling data centre operators to secure stable, long-term renewable power as demand continues to rise.
