Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, recorded strong growth in 2025, with passenger traffic rising 8 per cent year-on-year to 43.82 million. The increase was driven by steady domestic demand, sharp growth in international travel, and expanded airline connectivity. International passenger volumes jumped nearly 29 per cent, with the airport now connected to 113 destinations worldwide. Cargo operations also grew 5 per cent, reinforcing Bengaluru's role as a major logistics and trade hub. Airlines expanded routes across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Vietnam, while daily flight movements remained consistently high. The airport's performance highlights Bengaluru's rising importance as a global aviation gateway, supporting business travel, tourism, logistics growth, and airport-led commercial and real estate development.
Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, reported strong operational performance in calendar year 2025, with passenger traffic rising 8 per cent year-on-year to 43.82 million. The growth was driven by sustained travel demand, expanding international connectivity and continued investments in airport infrastructure and capacity.
Passenger volumes increased from 40.73 million in 2024, reflecting steady recovery and expansion across both domestic and international segments. Air traffic movements remained elevated throughout the year, with an average of 765 daily flights and a peak of 837 arrivals and departures recorded on October 19. The airport also registered its highest-ever single-day passenger count of 137,317 on November 23, underscoring the scale of demand during peak travel periods.
International operations gathered significant momentum in 2025. Average daily international departures rose from 38 in the previous year to 51, translating into a 28.7 per cent increase in international passenger traffic. As of December 31, the airport was connected to 113 passenger destinations, including 79 domestic and 34 international cities, strengthening its position as a key gateway for southern India.
Cargo operations also delivered consistent growth, with volumes reaching 520,985 metric tonnes, a 5 per cent increase year-on-year. The airport achieved its highest-ever single-day cargo throughput of 2,207 metric tonnes on August 7, 2025. It is now connected to 37 cargo destinations through 15 domestic and international cargo airlines, supporting Bengaluru's role as a major logistics and trade hub.
Airline expansion played a key role in network growth. Air India Express consolidated Bengaluru as its largest hub with around 81 daily departures and launched new international services to the Middle East. IndiGo expanded its international footprint, while Akasa Air added new Southeast Asia and Middle East routes. Vietnamese carriers also entered the network with services to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
Looking ahead to 2026, the airport plans to focus on strengthening global connectivity, expanding airline partnerships and scaling capacity across passenger and cargo operations. These initiatives aim to support seamless travel experiences and reinforce Bengaluru's emergence as a leading global aviation and business centre.
