The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has started the third phase of the Green Corridor, covering around 5 km between Pipraghat and Shaheed Path, aimed at easing traffic between the Cantonment area and main roads toward Ayodhya and Kanpur. The project includes a 240 metre railway overbridge, widening of Dilkusha Road, and a new four lane bridge to the G20 Road. Landfilling is underway on key stretches, and farmers affected by land acquisition will receive plots in Wellness City under the land pooling policy. Work is expected to advance steadily ahead of the monsoon.
The Lucknow Development Authority has commenced construction on the third phase of the Green Corridor, a 5 kilometre stretch designed to improve connectivity and reduce traffic pressure between the Cantonment area and main city arteries toward Ayodhya and Kanpur. This phase extends from Pipraghat to Shaheed Path and focuses on upgrading road infrastructure to accommodate increasing vehicular movement.
Officials confirmed that a 240 metre-long and 12 metre-wide railway overbridge will be constructed at the Pipraghat railway crossing following a no-objection certificate from the Cantonment Board. Dilkusha Road, which is currently 9 metres wide, will be expanded to handle higher traffic volumes. Additionally, a four-lane bridge connecting Pipraghat to the G20 Road will be built, with construction expected to begin shortly after the completion of tender formalities.
Landfilling has already started along a 2.8 km stretch toward the Army land drain and a 2.5 km stretch up to Shaheed Path. LDA officials have emphasized that all landfilling should be completed before the monsoon, followed by stone pitching to stabilize the embankments. The corridor alignment between Ekana Cricket Stadium and Kisan Path has been reviewed to ensure smooth connectivity across key points.
Under the LDA's land pooling policy, farmers whose land is acquired for this project will receive plots in Wellness City free of cost, balancing urban development with stakeholder interests. This phase builds on earlier efforts to expand the Green Corridor, which included overpasses and widened roads to reduce congestion in critical areas of the city. Previous phases have enhanced connectivity between major junctions, and this expansion is expected to further improve traffic flow in the long term.
Overall, the third phase reflects the authority's continued focus on improving urban mobility, integrating key roads, and ensuring infrastructure resilience ahead of seasonal challenges.
