Nalwa Aero has signed a strategic agreement with helicopter operators Global Vectra Helicorp, Pawan Hans Ltd, and Himalayan Heli Services to launch electric air taxi (eVTOL) services in India. The partnership includes pre-orders from Himalayan Heli for Nalwa's aircraft, aiming to offer fares as low as INR 200 per passenger on short routes. The eVTOLs will serve pilgrimage destinations like Char Dham, urban and intercity air travel, air ambulance services, and offshore logistics. Nalwa Aero has received regulatory approvals and plans full-scale operations by 2028, targeting efficient, quiet, and sustainable air mobility.
Nalwa Aero has joined forces with established helicopter operators Global Vectra Helicorp, Pawan Hans Ltd, and Himalayan Heli Services to introduce electric air taxi services in India. The collaboration, formalised during the Wings India aviation event in Hyderabad earlier this week, aims to make short-haul air travel accessible with fares starting from INR 200 per passenger on selected routes.
As part of the agreement, Himalayan Heli Services has placed advance orders for Nalwa's upcoming eVTOL aircraft. These electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles are planned for use across multiple services, including pilgrimage travel such as Char Dham Yatra routes, urban and intercity air taxi operations, air ambulance services, and offshore crew and logistics transport.
The company highlighted that electric propulsion significantly lowers operating costs, reduces noise pollution, and eliminates in-flight emissions. This allows operators to expand to routes that were previously limited by the economics of conventional helicopters. Quieter operations are especially beneficial in religious destinations and urban centres, while improved efficiency supports higher-frequency connectivity on short routes.
Nalwa Aero emphasized that collaboration with experienced operators like Pawan Hans, Global Vectra, and Himalayan Heli Services will help keep fares low and affordable, making air taxis viable for a broader segment of travellers. The company has already received Design Organisation Approval from national aviation authorities and recently had its Type Certification application accepted.
Currently, Nalwa Aero is progressing with sub-scale prototype development and plans to achieve full-scale operational readiness by 2028. The introduction of these electric aircraft is expected to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and sustainability across critical aviation segments, positioning India at the forefront of innovative air mobility solutions.
