The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has approved land allotment for the upcoming Jaipur Metro Phase-1C extension, a 2.85-km stretch running from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar via Galta Gate. This decision by the Authority's land and property disposal committee clears a significant hurdle in advancing metro expansion in the historic city, as 7,700 sqm of land has been earmarked for the project. To facilitate the use of forest department land along the alignment, JDA will conduct a land swap, allotting 2.01 hectares in Daulatpura village, Amer tehsil to the forest department in exchange. The extension includes an underground station at Ramganj Chaupar and an elevated station at Transport Nagar, bringing much-needed urban transit deeper into Jaipur's dense central areas and improving connectivity. Officials highlight that this step accelerates preparations for construction activity and supports broader transport and real-estate development goals in the city.
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has taken a key step towards realizing the Phase-1C extension of the Jaipur Metro by approving land allotment for the project, a move expected to accelerate construction and inspire renewed investor confidence in the region's infrastructure growth. During a recent meeting of the Authority's land and property disposal committee, members sanctioned the use of 7,700 square metres of land necessary for extending the metro corridor from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar via Galta Gate.
The Phase-1C section, part of the city's ongoing efforts to expand rapid transit accessibility, will connect the cultural and commercial heart of Jaipur with key residential and transit hubs on the city's eastern flank. It is designed to feature an underground station at Ramganj Chaupar serving one of the most congested and heritage-sensitive parts of the city and an elevated station at Transport Nagar, enhancing last-mile connectivity for commuters.
To facilitate this land allocation, JDA will undertake a land swap arrangement with the Rajasthan forest department. In exchange for allowing the use of forest land along the Phase-1C corridor, JDA approved the transfer of approximately 2.01 hectares (about 20,100 sqm) of land in Daulatpura revenue village, Amer tehsil to the department, clearing legal and institutional impediments to development. This allowance is crucial given the urban constraints and environmental considerations typical of metro expansions in historic city cores.
City planners and stakeholders say the allotment not only clears a key administrative step but also signals renewed progress for Jaipur's metro network, which has seen intermittent delays due to land and logistical challenges. Phase-1C forms part of the broader master plan to enhance urban mobility in India's rapidly growing capital of Rajasthan, addressing both commuter needs and real-estate dynamics where transit accessibility often drives property demand and development intensity.
With land approvals in place, authorities are now expected to fast-track detailed preparations and contractor engagement, bringing Jaipur closer to a more connected urban future.
