Synopsis

Roongta Cinemas has marked its entry into South India with the launch of a premium multiplex at Novum, near Nampally Metro Station, Hyderabad. Opening earlier this week, the property represents a key milestone in the brand's Pan-India expansion strategy. The new cinema combines advanced Dolby Atmos technology, luxury interiors and a curated food experience, targeting Hyderabad's deeply rooted cinema culture and positioning Nampally as a strategic debut location.

Roongta Cinemas has expanded its national footprint with the launch of its first South India property in Hyderabad, opening a luxury multiplex at Novum, near Nampally Metro Station. The cinema began operations earlier this week, marking a significant step in the company's Pan-India growth journey and its entry into one of the country's most cinema-driven markets.

Located in Nampally, a precinct known for its historic theatres and strong emotional connect with film audiences, the new multiplex has been positioned to leverage both high footfall and cultural relevance. The area's central location and strong public transport connectivity were key factors in the brand's decision to debut in South India from this part of Hyderabad.

The property has been designed as an ultra-premium cinema destination, featuring a high-end lobby and technologically advanced auditoriums. The interiors combine contemporary design elements with a focus on comfort, with attention given to lighting, spatial flow and seating ergonomics to enhance the overall viewing experience.

All auditoriums are equipped with Dolby Atmos sound technology, delivering immersive, multi-dimensional audio, along with high-definition digital projection systems and acoustically optimised interiors. The multiplex also introduces the brand's live cooking food and beverage concept, offering freshly prepared dishes alongside traditional cinema fare, positioning the venue as a complete leisure destination rather than just a movie hall.

Commenting on the launch, Sanjay Barjatya, CEO of Roongta Cinemas, indicated that Hyderabad holds a unique place in India's cinematic landscape, where movies are deeply embedded in everyday life and cultural identity. He noted that the choice of Nampally reflected the brand's intent to become part of a locality that has witnessed and celebrated cinema for decades.

He further stated that the new cinema aims to offer a blend of luxury, emotion and technology, where storytelling is enhanced by comfort and immersive infrastructure. The Hyderabad launch was described as the first step in a broader South India expansion strategy.

Roongta Cinemas, which has built a strong presence across North and West India, plans to scale its operations across southern states, with Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu identified as key focus markets. The Nampally multiplex reinforces the company's ambition to establish itself as a premium, guest-centric multiplex brand with a nationwide footprint.
