SEPC Ltd has secured a INR 269.69 crore subcontract to undertake comprehensive infrastructure works on the Ajmer Chanderiya Doubling Project of the Ajmer Division under North Western Railway. The subcontract was awarded by Vishnu Prakash R Punglia Ltd as part of the VPRPL-SBEL joint venture. SEPC will carry out the project works under the control and supervision of the joint venture, in line with the letter of award issued by the railway zone.
The work under this subcontract covers the Mandpiya to Chanderiya section. SEPC's tasks include earthwork such as embankment filling, cutting and blanketing, and the construction of important civil structures including major and minor bridges. It also includes road under bridges (RUBs), limited height subways and foot over bridges, which are necessary for safe and uninterrupted rail operations and road connectivity in the region.
In addition to bridges and subways, the contract involves building station facilities such as station buildings, platforms with shelters and staff quarters. SEPC is also responsible for permanent way works, which include the supply and transportation of ballast, laying and linking the broad gauge track, and carrying out related electrical and miscellaneous works. These tasks are essential for the timely completion and operational readiness of the doubled section.
This project forms part of a broader capacity augmentation initiative by Indian Railways aimed at improving connectivity and operational efficiency on important routes. Doubling work like this is intended to increase traffic handling capacity, reduce congestion and support smoother train movements across the network.
The contract win has had an impact on SEPC's market performance. After the announcement, the company's shares rallied on domestic exchanges, reflecting investor confidence in its ability to execute large infrastructure contracts and strengthen its order book in the transportation segment.
The company's growing presence in the railway infrastructure segment comes alongside a diversified project portfolio that spans municipal services, roads, industrial infrastructure and mining, reinforcing its overall growth strategy across core civil sectors.
