State-owned power producer NTPC has commenced commercial operations of multiple solar power capacities across Gujarat and Rajasthan. This includes a portion of its large Khavda solar project in Gujarat and part of the Nokh solar project in Rajasthan. With the latest additions, NTPC Group's total installed and commercial capacity has crossed 85,540 MW, further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio.
NTPC has announced the commencement of commercial operations for 243.66 MW of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project located in Gujarat. The capacity forms part of the Khavda solar development being executed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III.
The project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Limited, through NTPC Green Energy Limited. The power generator informed stock exchanges earlier this week that the commercial operations for this portion of the project have officially begun.
In a separate disclosure, NTPC also confirmed the start of commercial operations for 78 MW of its 735 MW Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan. The Nokh project comprises three units of 235 MW each, with a portion now entering the commercial phase.
Additionally, NTPC Green Energy Limited announced that 37.925 MW of capacity from the 300 MW Khavda solar project in Gujarat has commenced commercial operations. This project falls under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project and represents another incremental addition to the group's renewable energy assets.
Following these developments, NTPC Group's total installed and commercial power generation capacity has crossed the 85,540 MW mark.
NTPC, which operates under the Ministry of Power, is India's largest power generation company. The company meets nearly one-fourth of the country's electricity demand through a mix of conventional and renewable energy sources, with a growing emphasis on solar and other clean energy projects.
