PhonePe Payment Gateway has launched PhonePe PG Bolt, a new feature designed to make Visa and Mastercard card payments faster and more secure. Using device tokenisation, users can save their cards once on the PhonePe app and use them seamlessly across all merchants on the platform without repeated verification. The solution removes the need to enter CVV details for repeat transactions and enables in-app checkouts without redirection, reducing payment drop-offs. For merchants, PG Bolt promises quicker checkout times and higher transaction success rates through a smoother payment flow. The launch reflects PhonePe's focus on strengthening digital payment infrastructure while improving user convenience, security, and overall checkout efficiency across e-commerce and app-based services.
PhonePe Payment Gateway has introduced a new feature, PhonePe PG Bolt, for Visa and Mastercard credit and debit card transactions. The company said the solution is designed to offer a faster and more secure in-app checkout experience for users and merchant partners on the PhonePe platform.
According to the company, PhonePe PG Bolt uses device tokenisation to simplify card payments. Under this system, users can tokenize their Visa and Mastercard cards once on the PhonePe app. Once saved, these cards can be used across all merchants integrated with PhonePe Payment Gateway, removing the need for separate tokenisation with each merchant.
The feature replaces sensitive card details with secure digital tokens, which reduces exposure of card information during transactions. As a result, users are not required to enter their card verification value (CVV) for subsequent payments made on the same device. This approach shortens the checkout process and improves transaction security.
PhonePe said the new system allows users to complete payments without being redirected to external web pages. Instead, the entire payment journey takes place within the merchant's app, offering a smoother experience and reducing the chances of transaction drop-offs.
Yuvraj Singh Shekhawat, Chief Business Officer for Merchant Business at PhonePe, said the launch of PhonePe PG Bolt for Visa and Mastercard marks an important step in simplifying digital payments. He said the feature aims to replace traditional, multi-step checkout processes with a one-click payment experience, benefiting both users and merchants.
For merchants, the solution is expected to deliver higher transaction success rates and faster checkout times. PhonePe said these improvements are driven by the removal of manual card entry and fewer technical hand-offs between payment systems. Merchants using PhonePe's native software development kit can integrate the feature directly into their existing app flow.
The company added that the solution offers a customisable interface, allowing merchants to maintain brand consistency while improving payment efficiency. Faster checkouts and fewer failed transactions are expected to support merchant growth by enhancing user experience.
PhonePe Payment Gateway said PhonePe PG Bolt is part of its broader effort to strengthen digital payment infrastructure and improve security standards. The company continues to focus on building solutions that balance convenience, speed, and safety as digital payments grow across sectors such as e-commerce, services, and app-based platforms.
