Websol Renewable Pvt Ltd has announced an investment of over INR 3,500 crore to set up an integrated solar manufacturing facility at Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district. Spread across 120 acres, the 8 GW project will include solar cell and module manufacturing units, developed in two phases starting operations in 2027 and 2028. The facility is expected to create around 2,000 direct jobs and support growth in allied sectors such as logistics, utilities, and housing. Backed by state incentives under the Industrial Development Policy 4.0, the project strengthens Andhra Pradesh's position as an emerging hub for renewable energy manufacturing and industrial-led real estate growth.
Websol Renewable Pvt Ltd has announced an investment of over INR 3,500 crore to set up an integrated solar manufacturing facility at Naidupeta in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to significantly strengthen the state's renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem and boost industrial activity in the southern region.
According to an official statement, the company will invest INR 3,538 crore to establish an 8 gigawatt (GW) solar manufacturing complex spread across 120 acres. The facility will include a 4 GW solar cell manufacturing unit and a 4 GW solar module production unit. The project is planned in two phases, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in July 2027 and July 2028, respectively.
The proposed facility is expected to generate direct employment for nearly 2,000 people, contributing to job creation and skill development in the region. The investment is also likely to support growth in allied sectors such as logistics, warehousing, utilities, and residential development, driven by increased industrial activity.
To support sustainable and cost-efficient operations, the Andhra Pradesh government has facilitated land for a captive solar power plant spanning approximately 300 acres. In addition, Websol Renewable has announced plans to set up a 100 megawatt captive solar power facility as part of the project. These measures are aimed at ensuring uninterrupted green energy supply for the manufacturing units.
The project will be implemented under the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Policy 4.0 (2024-29). Under this policy framework, the company will be eligible for incentives related to land allocation, power and water supply, capital investment support, and statutory exemptions. These provisions are intended to enable faster project execution and improve ease of doing business.
Officials said the clustering of solar manufacturing units in and around Naidupeta is helping create a strong industrial ecosystem. This includes access to suppliers, skilled manpower, logistics infrastructure, and proximity to ports, positioning South India as a competitive hub for photovoltaic manufacturing.
State IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh said the investment reinforces Andhra Pradesh's growing status as a preferred destination for clean energy manufacturing. He noted that Naidupeta and other parts of southern Andhra Pradesh are emerging as key centres for renewable energy-led industrial development.
With increasing investments across the solar value chain, Andhra Pradesh is steadily positioning itself as a major hub for renewable energy manufacturing. The growing concentration of large-scale projects is expected to drive demand for industrial land, supporting infrastructure, and workforce housing, further strengthening the region's real estate and industrial growth prospects.
