Paradip Port hosts 25th All India Major Port Cultural Meet with active participation

Synopsis

Paradip Port recently hosted the 25th All India Major Port Cultural Meet, bringing together over 200 participants from nine major ports across India, including Chennai, Cochin, Mumbai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam and others. Organised under the Major Ports Sports Control Board, the four-day cultural event at Jayadev Sadan features competitions in classical and light vocal music, instrumental music, dance, and drama. Senior officials highlighted the importance of cultural activities in fostering unity among port communities. The event will conclude later this week with a valedictory ceremony and prize distribution.

Paradip Port became the venue for the 25th All India Major Port Cultural Meet, a four-day cultural event organised by the Paradip Port Authority under the Major Ports Sports Control Board. Over 200 participants from nine major ports, including Chennai, Cochin, Deendayal, Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Kolkata, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, V.O. Chidambaranar, and Paradip itself, are taking part in the event held at Jayadev Sadan.


Shri P. L. Haranadh, Chairman of Paradip Port Authority, inaugurated the meet, noting that cultural engagement strengthens unity and promotes shared values among port communities. He expressed pride in Paradip Port being chosen as the host for this edition.

The competitions cover classical and light vocal music, instrumental music, dance, and drama, providing employees an opportunity to showcase talents beyond their professional responsibilities. The opening performances were presented by the Mumbai Port Authority followed by Visakhapatnam Port Authority.

The inaugural session was led by Shri Himansu Sekhar Rout, Chairman of the Organising Committee. Other senior officials present included Shri Ashoka Kumar Sahu, FA and CAO; Shri Susil Chandra Nahak, Chief Mechanical Engineer; and Dr. Bibhuti Bhusan Das, Chief Medical Officer. Dr. D. P. Sethi, Secretary of the Organising Committee, delivered the welcome address and outlined the event schedule.

The cultural meet will continue over the coming days, with several competitions and performances highlighting the rich cultural heritage of different port regions. The event will conclude later this week with a valedictory ceremony and prize distribution, recognising the best performances from participating ports.

This meet not only celebrates cultural talents but also fosters closer interaction among employees of different ports, enhancing teamwork and shared understanding across India's major port network.
