According to officials, the LSG department identified multiple structures that were built in violation of applicable town planning and building regulations, including non-compliance with sanctioned layouts, absence of building permits and deviations from approved plans. After thorough inspection and due notices, authorities proceeded to categorise the constructions as unauthorised and invoked regulatory powers to recover demolition costs from the owners.
Under the orders issued by the department, property owners are now liable to pay the costs incurred by the authority for enforcement, including expenses for machinery, labour and administrative oversight associated with demolition actions. The charges have been formally communicated to the owners, with instructions to settle the amounts within a stipulated period, failing which enforcement measures, including recovery through revenue records or attachment of assets, may be initiated.
The action reflects the LSG department's ongoing focus on ensuring that urban development in Chomu adheres to statutory norms, particularly as the town experiences increased real estate activity. Local officials noted that unauthorised construction not only undermines planning discipline but can also strain civic infrastructure, compromise public safety and create inequitable land use patterns.
