Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited will extend metro services beyond midnight to manage the expected surge in passenger movement during New Year's Eve celebrations. Trains on the Purple, Green and Yellow Lines will run at increased frequency into the early hours, with last departures scheduled well past usual operating times. Entry and exit at MG Road station will be restricted late at night to manage crowding, while nearby stations remain operational. Additional BMTC buses will support last-mile connectivity across key parts of the city.
Bengaluru's metro network will operate beyond its regular schedule to support late-night travel as the city prepares for heavy commuter movement during New Year's Eve celebrations. The decision has been taken by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to ensure smoother mobility and reduce congestion on city roads during peak night hours.
Metro services on the Purple Line will continue late into the night, with the final trains departing from Whitefield and Challaghatta after midnight. On the Green Line, last services from Nagasandra and Silk Institute are scheduled in the early morning hours, allowing passengers to return home after celebrations. The Yellow Line will also run extended services, with the final train from RV Road operating shortly after 3 am.
At the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda interchange station, which serves as a key transfer point between the Purple and Green Lines, late-night services will be available in all major directions. To manage crowd flow in central areas, entry and exit at MG Road metro station will be restricted after a specified late-night hour, though trains will continue to pass through the station. Passengers are advised to use nearby stations such as Trinity and Cubbon Park during this period.
BMRCL has indicated that token sales at some stations will be stopped late at night to avoid operational delays. Commuters have been advised to rely on smart cards or QR-based tickets and ensure sufficient balance in advance to avoid inconvenience during extended service hours.
In addition to metro operations, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation will deploy additional late-night buses from major hubs including MG Road and Majestic. These buses will provide connectivity to key residential and commercial zones across Bengaluru, supporting last-mile travel during the early hours.
The extension of metro services follows similar arrangements made in previous years during major citywide events, where public transport agencies coordinated schedules to manage high passenger volumes and ensure safer, organised movement across the city.
