The demand includes tax, interest, and penalty, as confirmed by the Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Pune South. The company has acknowledged receipt of the order and stated that it plans to contest the assessment. Escorts Kubota Ltd has received a tax demand exceeding INR 3.4 crore from Maharashtra tax authorities over the eligibility of input tax credit, according to a regulatory filing. The demand has been raised by the Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Pune South, following an assessment related to goods and services tax credits claimed by the company.
The order confirms a tax demand of INR 1,76,29,853. This is accompanied by interest amounting to INR 1,46,58,378 and a penalty of INR 17,62,985. The combined liability takes the total amount to over INR 3.4 crore.
The company stated that the order was received recently and relates specifically to the interpretation of input tax credit eligibility under GST provisions. Escorts Kubota has indicated that it does not agree with the assessment and plans to challenge the decision.
As part of its response, the company said it intends to file an appeal before the appropriate appellate authority. Escorts Kubota operates in the farm and construction equipment segment and has previously faced routine tax assessments as part of regulatory compliance across states. The firm has not indicated any immediate financial impact arising from the order while the appeal process is pursued.
