NTPC has commissioned close to 14 MW of solar capacity at its Khavda project in Gujarat through a step-down subsidiary, lifting the group's total installed and commercial capacity to 85,637 MW. The 13.98 MW addition is part of the larger 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III. Executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, the project adds momentum to NTPC's ongoing expansion in utility-scale renewable energy.
Power major NTPC has commissioned nearly 14 MW of solar power capacity at its Khavda renewable energy site in Gujarat through a step-down subsidiary. The addition strengthens the company's renewable portfolio at a time when it is steadily expanding clean energy assets alongside its conventional power base.
Following this commissioning, NTPC's total installed and commercial capacity at the group level has increased to 85,637 MW, according to a regulatory filing. The newly operational capacity stands at 13.98 MW and has been brought on stream with effect from December 30, 2025.
The project forms part of NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd's 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project, which is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III in Gujarat. NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd functions as a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, which is the group's dedicated green energy arm.
Khavda, located in the Kutch region, has emerged as one of India's largest renewable energy hubs, with NTPC developing multiple solar and hybrid projects in phases. The company has been progressively commissioning capacity at the site as part of its broader plan to scale up non-fossil fuel generation and support national clean energy targets.
