The township is expected to improve planned housing availability close to the Tricity area, which has seen rising demand due to limited land and higher property prices in Chandigarh. The decision aligns with the state's broader approach of developing structured urban centres while maintaining regulatory oversight on land use.
Alongside this, the cabinet approved an amendment to Rule-3 of the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017. The change is aimed at improving transparency, easing procedural bottlenecks and strengthening dispute resolution under the state's RERA framework, which governs real estate project registration and compliance.
In the healthcare sector, the cabinet sanctioned 600 assistant staff nurse posts in government medical institutions to address manpower shortages. It also cleared the filling of 53 assistant professor posts and 121 other positions in medical colleges to strengthen teaching capacity and healthcare delivery.
Education and skill development were also addressed. Approval was granted for setting up a University of Multidisciplinary Institute of Innovation, Skill, Technology, Entrepreneurship and Research at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district through a public-private partnership. The proposed institution is intended to support skill-based education and innovation-led learning.
On social welfare, the cabinet expanded coverage under the Mukhya Mantri Sukh Aashray Yojna to include additional categories of children, including those studying in specified institutions and children of parents with severe disabilities or those abandoned by a surviving parent.
The cabinet also approved a project focused on improving employment opportunities for pastoral communities in Himalayan regions, with emphasis on sustainable livelihoods, conservation of indigenous breeds and better market access. In the dairy sector, decisions were taken to support milk processing infrastructure in select districts, along with working capital assistance.
Further, the cabinet cleared the creation of a dedicated sub-cadre for 100 CBSE schools with defined recruitment and performance norms, and extended incentives for faculty doctors possessing higher qualifications.
