Synopsis

Jakson Green and Blueleaf Energy have finalized the financial closure for their 840 MWp solar projects in Bikaner, Rajasthan, completing funding for the 1 GWp Rajasthan Solar Portfolio. The portfolio includes 280 MWp and 560 MWp ground-mounted plants, backed by 25-year power purchase agreements with SECI and NHPC. Funded through Axis Bank, the projects are ready to start construction and will join the ongoing 140 MWp Bhawad Solar Project. Once operational, the Bikaner plants are expected to supply electricity to over 1.5 million households, supporting India's renewable energy goals and the partners' target of adding more than 5 GW to the grid by 2030.

Jakson Green Ltd, a platform focused on advancing green energy transition in India, and Blueleaf Energy, a leading pan-Asian renewable energy platform managed by a Macquarie Asset Management fund, have announced the financial closure of their 840 MWp solar projects in Bikaner, Rajasthan. These include two ground-mounted solar plants of 280 MWp and 560 MWp, forming part of the larger 1 GWp Rajasthan Solar Portfolio jointly owned by the two companies through Jakson Ltd.

The financial closure was arranged with Axis Bank in India, marking the completion of funding for the entire portfolio. With finances secured, the Bikaner projects are now ready to move into the construction phase. They are supported by 25-year power purchase agreements with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) for the 280 MWp plant and NHPC Ltd for the 560 MWp plant.

The projects will complement the existing 140 MWp Bhawad Solar Project, which is already under construction and expected to be commissioned later this year. According to Bikesh Ogra, Vice Chairman and Global CEO of Jakson Green, completing the financial closure demonstrates both the company's commitment to India's energy transition and the strength of its partnership with Blueleaf Energy.

Pratyush Thakur, India Country Head for Blueleaf Energy, noted that securing funding for the Rajasthan Solar Portfolio brings the partners closer to their goal of adding over 5 GW of renewable energy capacity to the Indian grid by 2030. Once operational, the Bikaner projects are expected to generate sufficient electricity annually to power more than 1.5 million Indian households, making a substantial contribution to clean energy supply in the region.

The 1 GWp Rajasthan Solar Portfolio reflects a coordinated approach to scaling renewable energy capacity efficiently while providing long-term environmental and economic benefits. The projects' 25-year PPAs ensure predictable energy supply, helping strengthen India's commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development.
