Synopsis

Union Minister Shri Ajay Tamta visited Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh to review the construction of the four-lane road at Nauni Junction. He checked progress at Nauni Chowk Junction, assessed land acquisition, and discussed the difficulties raised by local residents. The minister took note of the road damage caused by recent heavy rains and instructed officials to carry out immediate repairs, especially on sections connecting to Shimla. Senior district officials and the National Highways Authority of India briefed him on technical details and local challenges linked to the project.

The Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Ajay Tamta, carried out a field inspection this past week in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh, of the under-construction four-lane road at Nauni Junction. He observed ongoing work at Nauni Chowk Junction, and gathered detailed updates on progress from officials.

He also reviewed the status of land acquisition for this four-lane project, and listened to concerns raised by local residents about difficulties caused by delays or by the acquisition itself. The minister noted that recent heavy rains had damaged portions of the road in various parts of the district, and he asked officials to arrange repairs without delay on those stretches, especially on roads that lead to Shimla, so that vehicle movement is not disrupted.

Present with him during the inspection were Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur, Rahul Kumar; Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Bilaspur Sadar, Rajdeep Singh; the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India; and other officers. They briefed him on both the technical side of construction and the challenges faced by affected people.

Officials told the minister that some parts of the road near Shimla were in worse condition due to rain damage, and that local traffic was affected. Ajay Tamta instructed concerned authorities to remedy those damaged stretches immediately. He also asked for clear information about which plots had been acquired, which were pending, and what compensation or resettlement issues were occurring so that locals' problems could be addressed.
