Synopsis

Insolation Energy has won multiple solar projects totaling 226.45 MW under the PM-KUSUM scheme, involving an investment of INR 750 crore. Its subsidiary, Insolation Green Energy Pvt Ltd, secured orders from Jaipur and Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam. The projects, scheduled to be completed by 2026-27, have varying levelized tariffs from INR 2.60 to INR 3.04 per unit. Under PM-KUSUM, the government aims to expand solar capacity across India through small power plants and solarisation of agriculture pumps, with financial support extended due to pandemic-related delays.

Insolation Energy recently announced that it has secured multiple solar projects totaling 226.45 megawatts, involving an investment of INR 750 crore under the PM-KUSUM scheme. The orders were won by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Insolation Green Energy Pvt Ltd, from Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited for 20 sites and Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited for 115 sites, the company informed the exchanges.

The company stated that the combined SPV solar power plant would have a total capacity of 226.45 MW under the PM-KUSUM Component A scheme. The final levelized tariffs are set at INR 3.04 per unit for 16 sites, INR 2.82 per unit for 5 sites, INR 2.75 per unit for 53 sites, and INR 2.60 per unit for 61 sites.

Insolation Energy will be responsible for the complete execution of these projects, including design, survey, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the plants. The projects are scheduled for completion by 2026-27.

PM-KUSUM, launched in 2019, aims to promote solar capacity in India. Initially, the scheme targeted an addition of 30,800 MW of solar power by 2022, with total central support of INR 34,422 crore, including service charges for implementing agencies. Its timeline was later extended to March 2026 due to implementation delays caused by the pandemic.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy explains that the scheme has three components: Component A focuses on installing 10,000 MW through small solar power plants; Component B supports 14 lakh standalone solar-powered agriculture pumps; and Component C targets the solarisation of 35 lakh grid-connected agriculture pumps.
