Synopsis

Telangana Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy has urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari to approve a 12-lane greenfield highway linking Bharat Future City in Hyderabad with Amaravati and Bandar port in Machilipatnam. At a meeting in New Delhi with MPs and officials, he stressed that landlocked Telangana needs direct port connectivity to boost trade and logistics. The CM also sought clearance for INR 868 crore worth of CRIF roadworks and faster approvals for both northern and southern corridors of the Regional Ring Road. Gadkari responded positively, with NHAI officials set to review the proposals soon.

The Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy of Telangana appealed to the Union Road Transport And Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari for the sanction of a 12-lane greenfield highway from Bharat Future City in Hyderabad through Amaravati to Bandar port in Machilipatnam. The proposal was presented during a meeting in New Delhi with MPs and state officials, where it was stressed that Telangana, being landlocked due to the State Reorganisation Act, requires a direct connectivity corridor to enable faster and more efficient movement of goods.

Alongside this proposal, the Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy pressed for approval of CRIF roadworks with a proposed cost of INR 868 crore. He requested that the northern corridor of the Regional Ring Road be initiated without delay, noting that land acquisition for the stretch is nearly complete, and also sought simultaneous clearance for the southern corridor.

The Union minister responded positively to the proposals and is understood to have assured that approvals would be granted shortly. Officials are expected to visit Hyderabad to assess the proposed Future City-Amaravati-Bandar port route, while a review meeting with NHAI has been planned to finalise the next steps.

If granted approval, the initiative could enhance regional connectivity, accelerate freight movement, and support economic growth. The government's assessment and speedy clearances will be critical in determining the pace of progress on these planned projects.
