The Maharashtra state cabinet has recently approved an INR 2,000 crore loan from HUDCO for urban infrastructure projects across multiple municipal corporations in the state. The funding is aimed at ensuring smooth execution of projects under the Urban Infrastructure Development Loan Scheme and avoiding delays caused by financial constraints.
Among the allocations, INR 822 crore has been set aside for a water supply project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation. The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority will receive INR 268.84 crore for four ongoing sewage projects. Additionally, Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation will get INR 116.28 crore to improve its water supply system. These projects are part of broader efforts to upgrade urban infrastructure and services in the state.
The loan also aligns with centrally sponsored programs such as the Amrut 2.0 Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, and Maharashtra Golden Anniversary Urban Upliftment Mission. By securing these funds, the state government aims to ensure timely completion of critical infrastructure projects, which will benefit residents and support sustainable urban development.
This financial support is expected to help municipalities complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones, improving water supply, sewage management, and overall urban services. It reflects the state?s continued focus on modernizing urban areas and strengthening infrastructure to meet growing city demands.
