Indian Railways is introducing two additional Vande Bharat Express trains between Patna and New Delhi to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic during the festive season of Diwali and Chhath. The semi-high-speed trains will operate on a temporary basis, offering modern amenities like Wi-Fi, infotainment systems, and chair-car seating. One train will run 17 trips with 20 coaches, while the other will complete 16 trips with 16 coaches. These services aim to ensure a comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers on this busy route.
Indian Railways will operate two extra Vande Bharat Express trains between Patna and New Delhi to meet the increased demand during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals. These semi-high-speed trains are being introduced to ensure passengers have more options and a comfortable travel experience on the busy route.
The first train, numbered 02253/02254, will run three days a week-on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. It will depart Patna Junction at 10:00 AM and reach New Delhi by 11:30 PM the same day. The return journey from New Delhi will begin at 8:35 AM on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, arriving in Patna at 9:30 PM. This service is planned for 17 trips and will include 20 chair car coaches to accommodate the higher passenger load.
The second train, numbered 02251/02252, will also operate tri-weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. It will leave Patna at 10:00 AM, reaching New Delhi at 11:30 PM. Its return journey starts at 8:35 AM from New Delhi on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, reaching Patna at 9:30 PM. This train is scheduled for 16 trips and has 16 chair car coaches.
Both trains are equipped with modern features including onboard Wi-Fi, infotainment systems, and enhanced hygiene standards. The Vande Bharat Express trains are designed for faster travel while maintaining comfort, making them more efficient compared to regular services. Railway officials highlighted that these additional trains will help reduce crowding and improve travel convenience during the busy festive season.
This step is part of Indian Railways' broader effort to strengthen connectivity and passenger comfort during peak travel periods. By providing extra trains with advanced facilities, the railways aim to offer travelers more choices, reduce pressure on existing services, and ensure a smoother journey on this critical route.
