Ashok Leyland announced that its total vehicle sales registered a year-on-year rise of 9 per cent in September. The company revealed that domestic sales increased by 7 per cent, with notable contributions from both heavy and light commercial vehicles. While medium and heavy commercial vehicles posted modest growth, light commercial vehicles saw a stronger double-digit rise, highlighting continued demand across categories.
Ashok Leyland stated earlier this week that its overall sales for September had grown by 9 per cent to 18,813 units, up from 17,233 units sold during the same month last year.
In its domestic market, sales recorded a 7 per cent increase, climbing to 17,209 units compared with 16,041 units a year ago.
The company reported that sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles in India reached 10,499 units, representing a 3 per cent rise over the 10,210 units sold in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Light commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market experienced a stronger performance, rising 15 per cent to 6,701 units compared with 5,831 units sold in the same month last year.
The figures from Ashok Leyland reflected sustained demand across its vehicle categories, with overall sales momentum supported by the strength of light commercial vehicles. The steady increase in medium and heavy vehicles also underlined market resilience, despite more moderate growth in that segment. The sales performance suggested continued optimism for the commercial vehicle sector as the company sustained year-on-year improvement in September.
