The Goa cabinet has approved seven development projects worth INR 2,500 crore to be executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said this approach will speed up the work without putting financial pressure on the state. The projects cover the redevelopment of Junta House and Circuit House in Panaji, a new Prashasan Stambh, reconstruction of government quarters and a government garage, along with a new Kadamba Transport Corporation bus stand in Vasco. NBCC will execute the projects, which are expected to begin shortly.
The Goa government has given clearance for seven projects with a combined value of INR 2,500 crore, opting for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) route. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting, where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant explained that if the government had handled the projects on its own, it would have required the full investment from the state exchequer. Instead, the PPP model will help in timely completion while easing financial pressure.
The approved projects include the redevelopment of Junta House and Circuit House in Panaji, construction of a new Prashasan Stambh, reconstruction of government quarters at St Inez, redevelopment of the government garage, and the construction of a new Kadamba Transport Corporation bus stand in Vasco, South Goa. These projects are expected to improve government infrastructure and enhance public amenities in urban areas of the state.
NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation), a central public sector undertaking, has been entrusted with carrying out the projects under the PPP arrangement. According to the Chief Minister, work is scheduled to start within the next 10 to 15 days. Sawant stressed that this framework will save the state from making large upfront payments while ensuring modernized and upgraded facilities are delivered in a planned timeline.
