MHADA has made 1.5 crore official documents publicly accessible on its website, aiming to boost transparency in Maharashtra's housing sector. Announced in April 2025, the move includes circulars, tenders, office orders, approvals, and internal remarks-organized department-wise. Sensitive records, such as those related to housing lotteries, remain restricted. Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal confirmed strict safeguards: documents cannot be downloaded or screenshotted, and users must state a reason to view files. All access is logged to ensure accountability. This initiative marks a major step in promoting open governance and improving public access to information in the state's housing development processes.
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has made a significant move to increase transparency in housing. The authority has made 1.5 crore (15 million) of its official documents publicly available on its website. This initiative was announced earlier this year, in April 2025.
The documents, uploaded in a department-wise format, cover a wide range of official records. These include circulars, tender details, office orders, internal remarks, and various approvals. However, sensitive or classified records, such as those related to lottery processes, are not included in this public access.
Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice President and CEO of MHADA, stated that safeguards are in place to prevent human intervention in the access process and to maintain confidentiality for sensitive information. To ensure data security, users are not permitted to download or capture screenshots of the documents.
Additionally, users must provide a reason for viewing any document, and all access activity on the website is recorded. This measure aims to enhance public accountability and streamline access to information regarding housing development.
