A consortium of Siemens Limited, Siemens Mobility GmbH, and Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd has secured a INR 4,100 crore contract from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) for India's first bullet train project. Siemens Limited's share, worth INR 1,230 crore, includes designing, installing, and maintaining advanced signalling and telecom systems using the globally adopted ETCS Level 2 standard. The project will be executed over 4.5 years, with Siemens handling maintenance for 15 years. This move aligns with the 'Make in India' mission and marks a major step toward integrating world-class rail tech into India's transport landscape.
A consortium comprising Siemens Limited, Siemens Mobility GmbH, and Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd has been awarded a major contract worth INR 4,100 crore by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the nodal agency overseeing India's first high-speed rail initiative.
According to a company statement, Siemens Limited will be responsible for a share amounting to INR 1,230 crore. This portion covers the design, installation, and extended maintenance of sophisticated signalling and telecommunications systems for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. The project scope includes the deployment of the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2, an internationally adopted signalling standard in use across more than 50 countries.
The contract is scheduled for execution over four-and-a-half years, with Siemens also taking on a long-term maintenance role spanning 15 years. The firm highlighted that this extended involvement is intended to ensure operational reliability and system sustainability throughout the project lifecycle.
Siemens' Managing Director and CEO, Sunil Mathur, remarked that the undertaking reflects the firm's strong commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative and aligns with their goal of delivering modern, sustainable transport technologies that are future-ready.
Siemens, known for its expertise in industrial technology, infrastructure, and mobility solutions, continues to play a pivotal role in India's evolving transportation sector. NHSRCL's collaboration with this consortium marks a key milestone in bringing global rail technology standards to Indian soil.
