Synopsis

Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd has commissioned a 10 MW captive solar power plant at its Raipur facility in partnership with AMP Energy India. The plant will generate over 15 million units of clean electricity annually, supporting Texmaco's commitment to ESG goals and responsible manufacturing. Developed under India's Group Captive Open Access Policy, the project offers Texmaco cost savings of 30-40% on power while reducing grid dependency. This initiative marks a major step in the company's clean energy transition. Texmaco, a leading name in railway and infrastructure manufacturing since 1939, reinforces its role in India's industrial sustainability movement.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, a prominent engineering and infrastructure company, recently announced the commissioning of a 10-megawatt (MW) captive solar power plant at its facility in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The project, developed in collaboration with AMP Energy India, a leading renewable energy solutions provider in the country, will supply over 15 million units of clean energy annually to Texmaco's Raipur operations.

Indrajit Mookerjee, Vice Chairman & Executive Director of Texmaco Rail, stated that this was not merely a sustainability checkbox but a forward-looking step aimed at redefining how Indian industry would power its future. He added that responsible manufacturing was no longer optional, noting that this initiative reflected Texmaco's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and positioned the company as a leader in clean energy transition within the manufacturing sector.

The plant has been executed under India's Group Captive Open Access Policy. This innovative model allows a group of commercial or industrial consumers, including Texmaco, to collectively develop and procure solar power to meet their energy needs. By operating under this framework, Texmaco gains greater control over its power supply, benefits from cost savings estimated between 30 to 40 percent compared to conventional grid electricity, and reduces its dependency on the main power grid.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering, established in 1939, is known for manufacturing a diverse range of products, including railway wagons, coaches, hydro-mechanical equipment, and steel castings. AMP Energy India, established in 2016 and now operating as AMPIN Energy Transition, has an installed capacity of approximately 5 gigawatt-peak (GWp) across 22 states.
