Synopsis

Juniper Green Energy, through its subsidiary Juniper Green Cosmic, has inked a significant 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with state-owned NHPC. The agreement, signed recently, is for the development of a 250 megawatt Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in Haryana. This project, which integrates solar, wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), is crucial for providing assured, round-the-clock green power. It underscores Juniper Green Energy's growing footprint in the renewable sector and its contribution to India's goals for a stable and sustainable energy supply.

Juniper Green Energy recently announced that its subsidiary, Juniper Green Cosmic, has formalized a pivotal power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned NHPC. The agreement paves the way for the development of a 250-megawatt Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project.

The power generated from this FDRE project is slated for supply to the Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), destined for Haryana's distribution companies, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited. This long-term PPA, spanning 25 years, was officially signed a few weeks ago, on June 28. The project is expected to commence power supply in June 2027.

Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) represents a crucial evolution in green energy, transforming variable renewable sources like solar and wind into a consistent, assured power supply through integration with energy storage systems (ESSs). This innovative approach ensures round-the-clock availability, enhancing grid stability and reliability. Under the terms of this PPA, Juniper Green Energy will develop a comprehensive renewable energy project, which will combine solar, wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to achieve its dispatchable capabilities.

Ankush Malik, CEO of Juniper Green Energy, stated that this PPA underscored the company's capability to undertake and deliver complex renewable projects, aligning with the nation's objective for sustainable and dependable power. He also noted that over a past period, specifically between April 2021 and December 2024, Juniper Green Energy had ranked as the second-largest bidder in terms of total capacity secured in wind-solar hybrid (WSH) and FDRE tenders.

This new agreement builds on Juniper Green Energy's growing portfolio. In December of last year, another subsidiary, Juniper Green Light Ten Private Ltd, had signed a PPA with NHPC for a 200 MW FDRE Project, designated for power supply to Uttar Pradesh.

Juniper Green Energy operates as an independent renewable energy power producer in India, with a dedicated focus on the development, construction, and operation of utility-scale solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects. The company, which is part of the AT Capital Group, has significantly expanded its operational capacity, now reaching approximately 1.45 GWp (gigawatt peak) across its various projects. These strategic developments highlight India's accelerating transition towards a robust and reliable clean energy future.
