This inter-state learning highlights efforts to create effective urban planning schemes in partnership with farmers and locals, adapting successful models for Karnataka's urban growth.

A team of Karnataka legislators and officials is currently on a tour to study urban development initiatives. For a two-day period, this delegation is visiting Gujarat to understand successful town planning schemes by visiting key locations and interacting with state officials.

The primary goal of this visit is to gather information on how Gujarat's schemes contribute to its growth and infrastructure development. The Karnataka team intends to implement similar schemes in Karnataka. They plan to start with a pilot project in Hubballi-Dharwad.

This project will focus on developing essential infrastructure like roads, schools, hospitals, and residential and commercial areas on a piece of land ranging from 200 to 500 acres. The Karnataka delegation includes Hubballi-Dharwad East MLA Prasad Abbayya, Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA Arvind Bellad, Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginakai, and HDUDA president Shakir Sanadi.

During their tour, the team visited Gift City, attended presentations, and interacted with officials from the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority and the Principal Secretary of urban development. They also conducted field visits to areas like Vaishno Devi Circle and Sarkhej Gandhinagar to observe successful implementation of these schemes. Upon their return, the legislators and officers will also submit a detailed report to the Karnataka government.

The aim of this visit is to create their own effective town planning schemes for urban growth in partnership with farmers and locals. Inter-state learning and sharing of successful governance models are common practices in India's federal system. Town planning schemes, often involving land pooling or similar methods, are tools for planned urban expansion.
