The meeting, held in New Delhi, focused on ensuring timely completion of national highway projects to boost regional connectivity and economic growth in the Northeast. These meetings reflect ongoing efforts to accelerate development across multiple sectors in the state.

Assam Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari recently reviewed the progress of various infrastructure projects. The meeting, held at the Union Minister's official residence in New Delhi, aimed to ensure timely completion of ongoing initiatives by senior officials.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarma requested support and cooperation from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for the timely completion of ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly flagship National Highway projects in Assam.

Union Minister Gadkari assured Chief Minister Sarma of MoRTH's support for time-bound implementation of these projects. He added that these projects will boost regional connectivity, enhance trade routes, and accelerate economic growth across the northeastern region of the country.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, K K Dwivedi, and senior MoRTH officials attended the meeting. Both the Chief Minister and Union Minister later shared updates about the meeting on X (formerly Twitter). Chief Minister Sarma wrote about reviewing progress and seeking cooperation. Minister Gadkari also wrote about reviewing projects and their expected contribution to regional connectivity and economic growth.

Separately, the Chief Minister met with a team from ICICI Foundation and ICICI Bank at his official residence. The discussions were solely focused on strengthening, expanding, and diversifying Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in collaboration with the Government of Assam, along with expanding credit access for microborrowers.

Additionally, Jayesh Saini, Chairman of LifeCare Ltd., a Kenya-based company, also met the Chief Minister at his official residence. They discussed the company's entry into Assam's health sector and its plans to bring projects to fruition soon.

LifeCare had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit in Guwahati in February of the current year. Regular reviews between state and central ministers are crucial for monitoring progress and resolving bottlenecks in large infrastructure projects.
