Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the completion of the 66.9 km four-lane Bandikui Spur, enhancing connectivity between Delhi and Jaipur. Built at a cost of INR 2,016 crore, the Greenfield road links the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway directly to Jaipur, cutting travel time to 3 hours and easing congestion on NH-48 and NH-21. The project is expected to boost tourism in Jaipur and improve access to landmarks like Amer Fort and Jantar Mantar. It will also lower logistics costs and benefit local farmers by providing easier access to Delhi markets. Separately, Gadkari stressed the need for faster infrastructure execution, highlighting funding is not an issue but timely delivery is.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari recently announced the completion of a new four-lane road project. The Bandikui Spur, providing connectivity between Delhi and Jaipur, aims to improve travel efficiency and support regional development by linking a major expressway directly to a key city.
The 66.916-kilometer-long spur has been constructed at a cost of INR 2,016 crore. Gadkari stated that the four-lane Greenfield Bandikui Spur resolves the issue of a lack of a direct route between the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway and Jaipur. Previously, commuters were compelled to undertake longer journeys. The new spur is expected to reduce travel time between Delhi and Jaipur from 3 hours 45 minutes to just 3 hours, improving mobility and easing congestion on NH-48 and NH-21.
Gadkari also stated that the enhanced connectivity would boost local tourism in Jaipur, improving access to its attractions such as Amer Fort and Jantar Mantar. He added that it would also promote regional economic development by lowering logistics costs, reducing vehicular wear and tear, and creating new markets for local farmers, particularly fruit and vegetable producers, by opening direct access to Delhi's large consumer base.
Separately, on June 24, Gadkari spoke at the Punyabhushan Award ceremony in Pune. He reportedly emphasized the government's financial standing and the urgent need to accelerate infrastructure project execution. He stated that funding is not the problem, but rather the speed of execution, also commenting on the perceived lack of innovative thinking within the administration.
