Synopsis

IRB Infrastructure posted a near 9% rise in toll revenue for May 2025, reaching INR 581 crore, compared to INR 536 crore in the same period last year. The company's largest toll projects, including the IRB MP Expressway in Maharashtra, Golconda Expressway near Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad Vadodara Super Express Tollway, contributed significantly to this growth. The addition of the Lalitpur Lakhnadon NH44 TOT-12 project also helped boost collections. The company attributed the growth primarily to the holiday season and a surge in new commercial and passenger vehicles. IRB remains India's largest private toll road developer, managing assets worth over INR 80,000 crore across 12 states.

IRB Infrastructure recorded a robust year-on-year increase of nearly 9% in toll revenue for May 2025, amounting to INR 581 crore, according to the company's recent filing. This was a notable rise from INR 536 crore collected during the same month last year, underscoring continued strength in the toll collection business.

Among its portfolio of 17 toll projects, the IRB MP Expressway in Maharashtra led revenue generation with INR 159.5 crore, up from INR 152.6 crore in May the previous year. The Golconda Expressway, part of Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road, was the second-largest contributor, delivering INR 73 crore in tolls, a significant jump from INR 62.7 crore last year. The Ahmedabad Vadodara Super Express Tollway also registered growth, contributing INR 68.7 crore compared to INR 64.5 crore in the corresponding period.

In addition to these core assets, IRB's recently added TOT-12 project, Lalitpur Lakhnadon NH44, contributed INR 37.5 crore, improving from INR 35.5 crore a year earlier. The company's Deputy CEO, Amitabh Murarka, attributed the year-on-year toll revenue growth primarily to the holiday season, which saw increased travel across the country. Despite minor disruptions caused by pre-monsoon rains affecting traffic volumes during the latter half of the month, overall momentum remained positive.

Murarka highlighted the addition of approximately 450,000 new commercial and passenger vehicles across India during May as a key driver supporting sustained growth in toll collections. He also pointed to the nearing completion of several ongoing projects within IRB's portfolio, which are expected to further bolster revenues in the coming months.

Established as India's first integrated highway infrastructure player, IRB Infrastructure has grown to become the country's largest private developer of toll roads and highways. Its asset base exceeds INR 80,000 crore across 12 states, reflecting its significant presence and ongoing commitment to expanding India's infrastructure landscape.

As the demand for efficient highway connectivity intensifies, IRB's leadership and integrated approach make it a key player in shaping the country's transportation future. Continued investments and expanding traffic volumes indicate promising prospects ahead for IRB and the broader toll road industry.
