Synopsis

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Airports Ltd, has initiated steps to fully acquire ESR GMR Logistics Park Pvt Ltd (EGLPPL) by purchasing the remaining 70% stake for a little over INR 41 crore. GMR Hyderabad Aerotropolis Ltd, already holding a 30% share, is set to make EGLPPL a wholly owned subsidiary. This acquisition aligns with GHIAL's broader vision to expand its airport land development portfolio in Hyderabad, focusing on sectors like warehousing, industrial, commercial, hospitality, and retail to support regional economic growth.

GMR Airports Ltd recently announced that its subsidiary, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), would acquire a 70% stake in its associate company, ESR GMR Logistics Park Pvt Ltd (EGLPPL), for a little over INR 41 crore.

GMR Hyderabad Aerotropolis Ltd (GHAL), a wholly owned arm of GHIAL, already owns 30% of EGLPPL. The deal, upon completion, will result in EGLPPL becoming a fully owned subsidiary of GHIAL.

To facilitate the acquisition, GHIAL has entered into a share purchase agreement with the other stakeholders of EGLPPL. In a regulatory filing, the company conveyed that following the transaction, EGLPPL would be fully integrated under GHIAL's ownership.

EGLPPL is involved in the development of a warehousing and logistics park in Hyderabad. This strategic acquisition forms part of GHIAL's ongoing efforts to maximise the value of airport-adjacent land. The firm noted that the move supports its broader strategy of building a diverse portfolio of assets across warehousing, industrial, commercial, hospitality, and retail segments.

This development builds on GMR's past efforts to transform the Hyderabad airport zone into a multi-use aerotropolis, and aligns with its vision to spur socio-economic development in the region through infrastructure-led growth.

With this acquisition, the GMR Group is reinforcing its aerotropolis model where infrastructure development integrates aviation, logistics, business, and lifestyle ecosystems. The deal not only bolsters GHIAL's asset base but also signals a focused shift towards long-term, diversified growth that complements airport operations and regional development objectives.
