The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) recently introduced the 'Apna Ghar Awaas Yojana 2025', a major housing initiative that will provide 7,500 flats spread across Narela, Loknayakpuram, and Siraspur. The scheme offers a range of flats in categories such as Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Lower Income Group (LIG), Middle Income Group (MIG), and High Income Group (HIG), with discounts of 15% to 25% depending on the category. Bookings are scheduled to open soon on a first-come, first-served basis. This move is expected to further the DDA's long-standing commitment to affordable housing, especially for marginalised sections of Delhi's population.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) recently unveiled its latest housing scheme, the 'Apna Ghar Awaas Yojana 2025', which aims to make home ownership more accessible to residents of Delhi by offering 7,500 flats across Narela, Loknayakpuram, and Siraspur. The scheme marks the third major housing initiative introduced by the DDA this year, following the earlier 'Sabka Ghar Awaas Yojana' and 'Shramik Awaas Yojana', highlighting the authority's ongoing efforts to tackle the city's housing shortage.
Announcing the scheme, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena emphasised the government's focus on affordable housing, explaining that the new scheme offers flats across different income groups to cater to diverse needs. The flats are categorised as Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Lower Income Group (LIG), Middle Income Group (MIG), and High Income Group (HIG), with the scheme providing a discount ranging between 15% and 25% based on the category, making it financially viable for many.
Specifically, the scheme includes 226 HIG flats located in Narela, while Loknayakpuram will host 2,794 flats in the MIG category, and Siraspur will offer 4,480 flats covering EWS, LIG, and MIG groups. The total number of flats, therefore, spans a broad demographic, aiming to address the housing needs of economically diverse communities across the city.
Prospective buyers will have the opportunity to book their flats from later this month, on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. The DDA has outlined that all bookings will be conducted online through their official portal, ensuring transparency and ease of access for applicants.
This initiative builds on the DDA's previous housing schemes launched earlier this year, which collectively aimed to provide affordable homes to thousands of Delhi residents. The 'Sabka Ghar Awaas Yojana' and the 'Shramik Awaas Yojana' together helped facilitate housing for low-income and labour communities, and the new 'Apna Ghar Awaas Yojana' extends that reach further.
The announcement also aligns with Delhi's broader urban development and affordable housing policies, which have historically emphasised inclusivity, adequate infrastructure, and timely possession. By targeting multiple income groups and offering significant discounts, the DDA aims to ensure equitable access to housing, a critical challenge in India's capital where real estate prices have been steadily rising.
Overall, the 'Apna Ghar Awaas Yojana 2025' reflects the government's sustained commitment to bridging the housing gap and supporting residents from various socioeconomic backgrounds to own homes in Delhi's expanding suburbs.
