Synopsis

Pod hotel startup Naptapgo has raised INR 2 crore in the pre-seed funding from Inflection Point Ventures to accelerate franchise growth, tech upgrades, marketing, and customer experience. Founded by Nitin Malhotra and Himanshu Shukla, Naptapgo offers affordable luxury through compact, sustainable stays with flexible check-ins and hourly booking. With plans to expand to 20 properties by FY27 across NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Katra, and Amritsar, it has achieved 65% direct bookings via website and WhatsApp. Recognized as 'Franchisable Concept of the Year 2024,' it also earned support from Balmer Lawrie and Anand Mahindra, targeting the USD 1300 billion global hospitality market.

Naptapgo, a rising pod hotel startup reshaping the landscape of affordable hospitality, has secured INR 2 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). The infusion of capital will be strategically directed toward scaling franchise operations, enhancing marketing initiatives, upgrading technological infrastructure, and developing innovative methods to elevate the customer journey. This funding marks a pivotal moment in Naptapgo's expansion across both urban centers and religious destinations, reinforcing its mission to deliver clean, flexible, and cost-effective lodging solutions.

The company stands out for its pioneering approach, blending affordable luxury with compact, efficient designs. Naptapgo's model includes features such as flexible check-in times, hourly stay options, and a strong focus on sustainability. These attributes cater to the modern traveler seeking convenience without compromising comfort. The startup is currently active in the National Capital Region (NCR) and is preparing to launch operations in key cities including Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai, Katra, and Amritsar. By FY27, it aims to operate 20 properties, expanding its footprint significantly.

Co-founded by Nitin Malhotra (Founder & CEO) and Himanshu Shukla (Co-Founder & VP Ops), Naptapgo is built on a solid foundation of industry expertise. Nitin, an MBA graduate from Symbiosis and an IIM Lucknow incubatee, has previously founded the now-acquired startup 247around and held senior roles at Texas Instruments and ST Microelectronics. Himanshu, also incubated at IIM Lucknow, brings valuable hospitality experience from stints at Chaayos, Taj Hotels, and Jaypee Resorts, along with formal training from IHM Lucknow.

Vinay Bansal, Founder & CEO of IPV, emphasized the changing dynamics of the global hospitality sector, noting that while globalization and digital adoption have surged, service quality has often stagnated. He praised Naptapgo for offering a fresh, economically accessible hotel experience that meets the evolving demands of short-stay travelers, positioning it as a high-potential disruptor in the space.

One of Naptapgo's standout achievements is its ability to generate 65% of bookings directly through its own website and WhatsApp, highlighting its operational agility and customer-first mindset. The company's blend of technology, strategic location selection, and sustainable practices has earned it recognition such as "Franchisable Concept of the Year 2024" and "Best Booth of the Year 2024."

The startup has also drawn endorsements from industry leaders, including a strategic investment by Government of India PSU Balmer Lawrie and commendation from Anand Mahindra, who lauded Naptapgo's role in solving India's affordable hospitality challenge.

India's hotel market, currently valued at USD 30 billion, is projected to reach USD 55 billion by 2030. Globally, the sector is worth USD 1300 billion-presenting immense opportunities for Naptapgo as it scales its distinctive hospitality model.
