In his recent address at AIMA's 10th National Leadership Conclave, he revealed his goal to ramp up the highway construction pace to 100 km per day. This ambitious target aims to significantly boost the country's road infrastructure.


Gadkari expressed confidence that, in the next 18 months, India's road infrastructure will surpass that of the United States. He shared that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways plans to construct 25,000 km of two- and four-lane highways in the coming years, signaling a major leap in the country's road-building efforts.

Addressing concerns about funding, Gadkari assured that there was no shortage of financial resources for these projects. Highlighting recent achievements, he noted that the record pace of highway construction reached 37 km per day in the 2020-21 period. The Ministry has completed significant milestones, including 10,237 km in 2019-20, 13,435 km in 2020-21, 10,457 km in 2021-22, 10,331 km in 2022-23, and 12,349 km in 2023-24.

Further, Gadkari mentioned the Union government's ongoing infrastructure projects worth INR 1 lakh crore, aimed at transforming Delhi. He also emphasized the importance of teamwork and transparency for the success of such large-scale initiatives.

With a clear roadmap for the future and substantial ongoing projects, the minister's plan promises significant improvements in road connectivity. As India pushes toward its 100 km per day target, the emphasis on financial backing, efficient execution, and transparency will be key to ensuring its success.
