Bhilai, an industrial city in Chhattisgarh, is witnessing a series of infrastructure developments aimed at bolstering its industrial capacity, sustainability, and urban living standards.
The Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), operated by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), is undergoing significant expansion and modernization. This includes the installation of new blast furnaces, steel melting shops, and rolling mills to increase production capacity and efficiency. These enhancements are designed to meet the growing demand for steel and to support various infrastructural projects across the country.
In line with sustainable development goals, BSP is implementing renewable energy projects. The plant has partnered with the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) to install rooftop solar power systems across its premises and township, aiming to generate approximately 3 MW of electricity. Additionally, BSP is developing a 15 MW floating solar power plant at the Maroda-1 reservoir, marking the first of its kind in Chhattisgarh.
