Gaya, a city renowned for its spiritual heritage, is undergoing a transformative phase with several infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering its economic landscape and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
A cornerstone of Gaya's infrastructural development is the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC), part of the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). Spearheaded by the Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Ltd (BIMCGL), this project is set to attract investments of approximately INR 16,000 crore and generate over 1 lakh employment opportunities. The cluster will feature a 29.89 km internal road network, modern power substations, advanced water supply and sewage treatment systems, integrated waste management facilities, skill development centers, commercial spaces, and administrative offices. Gaya Junction, a pivotal railway station in Bihar, is undergoing a significant transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The redevelopment includes modernization of passenger amenities, improved connectivity, and enhanced infrastructure to accommodate increasing footfall. The station's strategic location on the Grand Chord route makes it a crucial node in the Indian Railways network.
Addressing the pressing need for potable water, the Ganga Water Lift Project aims to supply safe drinking water to Gaya, Bodh Gaya, and Rajgir by lifting water from the Ganga River near Hathidah Ghat in Mokama. The project involves a pipeline network of approximately 190.90 km, with water being treated and stored before distribution. This initiative is part of Bihar's 'Jal-Jivan-Hariyali Abhiyan' and is crucial for ensuring water security in the region .
To improve regional connectivity, a road widening and strengthening project worth INR 149.8 crore is underway in Gaya. This project focuses on enhancing the existing road network to facilitate smoother transportation and support economic activities in the area .
