The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has mandated that all under-construction buildings display boards with sanctioned plan numbers, architect/LBS names, and building heights. This move aims to protect prospective flat-buyers from promoter violations. Borough engineers are instructed to identify non-compliant sites and issue stop-work notices. Surveys will ensure board visibility, following directives from the mayor's office. Officials say such boards will boost buyer confidence. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has made it compulsory for all under-construction buildings across the city to display information boards containing key project details. This move is aimed at increasing transparency in real estate development and protecting the interests of prospective homebuyers. According to the new directive, real estate promoters must clearly display the sanctioned building plan number, the name of the architect or licensed building surveyor (LBS), and the height of the building. Borough-level building department engineers have been instructed to conduct thorough surveys of all buildings currently under construction or nearing completion. Their task is to ensure compliance with the new directive. Buildings found without the required signage will be reported, and immediate stop-work notices will be issued to the developers.
