The Gautam Budh Nagar administration has launched a district-wide survey to identify feasible locations for EV charging stations in Noida's residential societies. Directed by ADM Atul Kumar, the initiative involves coordination between UPPCL, NPCL, and RWAs/AOAs to resolve infrastructure gaps and resident disputes over EV charger installations. Many societies currently lack designated parking or electrical capacity, leading to rising friction amid increasing EV adoption. The Noida Authority has also mandated EV charging provisions in all new residential building plans. The survey aims to ensure safe, accessible, and future-ready charging infrastructure, marking a step forward in the city's sustainable mobility efforts.
The Gautam Budh Nagar district administration has initiated a comprehensive survey to identify suitable locations for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations within residential societies in Noida. This move aims to address the growing demand for EV infrastructure amidst rising adoption rates and to resolve ongoing disputes between residents and housing societies over charging facilities.
Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Atul Kumar directed power distribution companies, including Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL), to collaborate with Apartment Owners' Associations (AOAs) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to facilitate the survey. The goal is to identify feasible locations for installing EV charging stations in a phased manner, ensuring that both technical and safety standards are met.
The initiative comes in response to challenges faced by residents in installing personal EV chargers. Many societies lack designated parking spaces or adequate electrical infrastructure, leading to conflicts between EV owners and RWAs. In some cases, residents have been denied permission to install personal chargers, while others have faced higher costs for using community charging stations.
To promote EV adoption, the Noida Authority has mandated that new building plans include provisions for EV charging stations. This policy aims to ensure that future residential developments are equipped to support the growing number of electric vehicles.
The survey's findings will inform the strategic placement of EV charging stations across Noida's residential societies, facilitating easier access for EV owners and supporting the city's transition to sustainable transportation. Residents and housing societies are encouraged to participate actively in the survey process to ensure that the infrastructure meets community needs.
