Saran district in Bihar set a new record by collecting over INR 210 crore in land registration revenue during FY 2024-25-an increase of INR 37 crore from the previous year. The rise is attributed to a surge in real estate transactions and streamlined administrative procedures, including the introduction of online registration services. The Sadar office in Chhapra led collections with INR 100.12 crore, while other sub-registrar offices also saw strong growth. Registered deeds rose to 55,034 from 46,791 the previous year, reflecting improved transparency and public confidence. Saran's success offers a model for boosting revenue and efficiency across the state.
By collecting more than INR 210 crore in revenue through land registrations in the 2024-25 fiscal year, the Saran district of Bihar set a new record in the district earlier this week. This marks a remarkable increase of INR 37 crore compared to the revenue collected in the previous fiscal period. The district administration attributed this growth to a combination of factors, including a surge in real estate transactions and improvements in administrative procedures.
The Sadar land registration office in Chhapra emerged as the highest contributor, generating INR 100.12 crore in revenue. Other sub-registrar offices in the district, including Sonepur, Ekma, Masrakh, Parsa, and Marhaura, also recorded strong performances, contributing INR 32.57 crore, INR 25.35 crore, INR 20.24 crore, INR 16.64 crore, and INR 16.06 crore respectively. The diversification of revenue sources across the district's various regions demonstrates the widespread growth in land transactions.
Alongside the increase in revenue, the number of land registration deeds also saw a substantial rise. In the 2024-25 fiscal year, the district recorded 55,034 registered deeds, up from 46,791 in the previous year. This significant rise in deed registrations highlights the growing confidence in the real estate sector and reflects the improved efficiency of the district's land registration processes.
District officials mentioned that the introduction of online registration services and a streamlined process for buyers and sellers had played a key role in facilitating smoother transactions. Furthermore, improved infrastructure and a heightened focus on transparency had made the registration process more accessible to a larger number of people.
This surge in land registrations and revenue generation has not only positively impacted Saran district's economy but also demonstrates the region's growing appeal as a real estate destination. With the government's continued focus on streamlining administrative processes and enhancing the overall business environment, further growth in land transactions and registrations is expected in the coming months.
The success of the district's land registration system sets a promising precedent for other regions in the state, offering a model for boosting revenue and enhancing transparency in land transactions.
